Matthew Driver
President, Southeast Asia
Matthew Driver is President, South East Asia for MasterCard, based in Singapore. In this role, he is responsible for managing all aspects of the MasterCard business in ASEAN including business strategy & development, customer management, business operations and stakeholder engagement as the company seeks to expand the reach of electronic payments to facilitate inclusive economic growth and achieve its vision of a “World Beyond Cash”.

Mr. Driver joined MasterCard in 2002 and prior to his current position, was the GM of the Key Relationships Division for MasterCard in APMEA looking after multinational clients. Before that, he was the global lead for the ABN AMRO Global Account team based in London. Mr. Driver has more than 25 years of experience in business development, consulting, product management and marketing in banking, payments and business services at MasterCard, American Express, Edengene and group companies of WPP plc. Mr. Driver started his career at Westpac Banking Corporation.

With his extensive experience in payments, banking and consulting Mr. Driver regularly speaks on the role of payments in driving economic growth appearing on CNBC, BBC, Bloomberg, Channel News Asia and the Wall Street Journal. He has represented MasterCard at APEC, WEF East Asia, and in many other ASEAN payments events as well as participated in panel discussions directly on inclusion and digitalization of payments at WEF, the GPFI Forum at the G20, as well as the Responsible Finance Forum.

Born in New Zealand, Matthew has MBAs from Columbia University in New York, and from the London Business School. A Singapore citizen, he is married to Patricia, an executive coach and they have five children.
